Sullivan’s blue eyes
reminded me of the blue waters I had been swimming that same
afternoon, clear, warm and sincere. His performance on the film
The Trip, however was as sincere, heartwarming and absolutely
superb. He plays the buddy Alan, a diehard Nixon Republican that
meets and is later reluctant to admit that he has feelings for his
friend the radical homosexual, Tommy. Alan has great troubles
coming out of the closet and in the process writes a book so
antigay that it is this and some conniving scheming from an
interested third party-a closet case mogul-that separates Tommy
and Alan for years. They do come back together one last time for
The Trip.
The film is just outstanding in content and visuals. Great and
genuine performances all around, however, Sullivan’s best scenes
are the funniest including a striptease he does for ailing Tommy
on the road on top of this car. Soon you see a busload of people
come by while he is doing his striptease, and yes he does it well,
very well. Our short interview on Closing Night with Sullivan
revealed the following:
OB: What can you say regarding the public’s reaction to
the film?
Sullivan: The people are so marvelous and so nice, its
been amazing. I am sweating from all the nervousness.
OB: How long did your participation take to film?
Sullivan: I was there every single day…the full 21
days it took to film. A wonderful experience indeed.
OB: What message do you think the film conveys?
Sullivan: To make sure that you tell people you love
them, be yourself while you have the chance. Act from your heart
rather than from your head.
That’s right folks, Sullivan is sexy, blue-eyed, intelligent
and a man with a heart. Don't miss him in The Trip, a must see
film.
